The Greatest Golf Movies Ever Made [or, BC Wastes Time Between Loads of Laundry]

The thing about Tin Cup is that while it’s an awesome golf film, it’s also a love story, and the trailer focuses it on that. Rent this to see the on-course battles between Costner and Johnson, and have a good time.

Probably the greatest golf film of all-time, Caddyshack’s hilarious. Gunga galunga, baby.

This movie is really, really enjoyable. The Greatest Game Ever Played is a golf drama based on the true story of the 1913 US Open, where 20-year-old Francis Ouimet defeated his idol, 1900 US Open champion Harry Vardon.

C’mon, kids – Bob Barker kicks his ass, and it’s a hoot. Lovin’ the Happy Gilmore.

I’m not much for the mystical aspect of this film, but it’s a good yarn, and Damon and Smith are always good… while Charlize Theron remains never hard to look at.

End Of The Season!

On my last round of the year today, I hit a 94. That’s… shrugtastic, I suppose. I’m showing at the end of this year that I can break 100 consistently, but not 90 yet. That’s pretty much what I expected about halfway through the year, even though I was aiming to beat 90 consistently at the beginning of it. But there’s the Dome this winter to work on stuff, and I’m playing with new clubs at a different length that I’m not used to, so I guess I can be satisfied with my progress somewhat. It’s going to snow Friday, and there’s always next year, I guess.

Here’s what’s in my bag, now that I’ve switched clubs:

Driver – John Daly Pro Model 10 degree 460cc with Precision Performance 76 graphite shaft [mid-firm]
3 Wood- Spalding Executive with medium-firm graphite shaft
5 Wood – Spalding Executive with shaft as above
Hybrids – 20 degree [3] Genex 3DX Ironwood with Aldila 75-R shaft
Irons – Purefit ID Tri-Cavity [5-PW] with Accuflex mid-firm graphite shafts
Wedges – Dynacraft Summit Sand Wedge with steel shaft; Cleveland tour Action 900 with True Temper steel shaft [54 deg]; Purefit ID Raw with graphite shaft [51 deg]
Putter – Goliath Blue Boy Four mallet

Quick Links!

We get more hits for “Tiny Woods” than you can shake a seven iron at. If you’re one of those people, a good article on the freakishly young lad you’re looking for can be found HERE.

Also, I recently found a blog chronicling one man’s quest to become a golf professional. It’s called Golf Dream, and can be found HERE. It’s quite good, and I’m linking it in the blogroll, so take a look.

Incidentally, we played Seaton today in the muck just for fun. I apparently hit a 94, which isn’t bad for me there given the conditions. Boom-Boom was two over for the front nine. I have a nice new 51 degree PureFit wedge he gave me, and it’s a wonderful gap wedge, folks.

EDIT: I’ve had something of an epihany about golf while reading Golf Digest, and how… well, how I golf wrong. It has to do with me needing to put away my 3-wood, 5-wood and long irons and laying up in order to shoot from a more comfortable position, and it also has to do with looking at par 5’s as easier than par 3’s [which I don't], but I’m still forming it up in my mind and I’ll get back to you.

The Ellen DeGeneres Show – Tiger Woods

Kevin “Boom-Boom” Croucher posted this on his own blog, “What Do You Think?”, and it deserves to be here as well. Tiger’s on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show”, and he’s actually smiling! Check it out, though: he’s still got that same set-up routine, even when it’s just for fun.
